Combination Trips: Headwaters + Canyons
Several guests each year opt to combine a Headwaters Expedition with a Classic Canyon trip. The Canyons trips start where the Expedition trips end. This makes for a wonderful opportunity to spend nearly two weeks floating and exploring nearly the entire Taimen Sanctuary… with no shuttles.

Inclusions/Exclusions
The price for all trips includes airport transfers, two nights single occupancy hotel accommodation in Ulaanbaatar, transportation to/from the river, conservation and fishing permits (US$ 500), all taimen and trout flies, guide services, and all meals, lodging, soft drinks, beer, wine and classic Mongolian vodka at camp.
Price does not include international airfare, meals/drinks in UB, and gratuities. Any gratuities are given to the head-guide at the end of your trip who then disperses these to guides and camp staff.
Arrivals and Transfers
Trips begin and end in the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, known locally as “UB”.
An English speaking guide and driver greet you upon arrival and take care of all transfers.
Our full-time staff in UB is always available to provide assistance.
Single Accommodation Hotel
The trips include UB hotel accommodation for the evening of arrival and the evening prior to departure.
All MRO/FM guests enjoy single occupancy hotel rooms while in UB.
Double Occupancy at the River
Prices are based upon double occupancy at the river with two guests sharing spacious accommodation.
Two anglers fish with one guide.
The guides rotate daily, so everyone gets a chance to fish with a variety of great guides.
Fishing Permits
Permit costs are included within the trip price. Mongolia law requires that all international anglers obtain a variety of fishing permits. We arrange for all permits in advance and have exclusive long-term operations and conservation agreements with all relevant government agencies. The package of conservation permits costs approximately US$ 500 per angler.
Packing and Planning
We provide guests with a very comprehensive packing list prior to departure. We supply all flies. Guests are responsible for bringing their own rods, waders and other fishing gear.
Travel and Visas
Mongolia is becoming a very easy travel destination. The nation’s capital, Ulaanbaatar (airport code: UBN), is large and modern. Numerous international flights arrive daily from across Europe and Asia. Citizens of the USA and many other countries may enter the country without an advance visa.
